Travelling to Japan

I'm jetlagged again for the second night so I thought I write my very first entry!

The flight to Kanazawa was a long one, I was flying with Etihad Airlines and the flight was at 9:25am and being me got there very late :P I blame my Mum and brother who was not up when I came back from Chris' house at 7am.  Getting there late meant I was a little stressed out especially when i was told that my luggage was over by 3kg and the check in desk person wouldn't let me off.  We had the option of paying £30 for every kg.  But we managed to solve the problem by taking out my heavy textbooks and bag which we later put into my hand luggage sneakily.  I also had the problem with my lock that I got with the new bag breaking on me, but luckily my university mate Stacey who i'm travelling with had a spare one!

Then when we boarded the plane, we were delayed taking off because the person opposite me was escorted off the plane by the police because he was abusive to another passenger and staff and was told he wasn't allowed to fly on this flight. Real air rage!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But our transit time in Abu Dhabi was very quick, by the time we went thru transit and then security it was time to board the plane.  The plane stopped at Beijing first and then onwards to Nagoya! I didn't sleep much on the plane, probably about half an hour in total x____x

But no rest when we got to Nagoya airport! When we got our luggage poor Stacey's luggage got beaten up by the journey and the handle didn't work so she had to drag it everywhere :( We got the train into Nagoya station, had to ask which line to get to Kanazawa and I brought tickets.  We ended up having only 3 minutes to spare when we finally got onto the train as we faced a long flight of stairs to the platform and no escalator! But we were saved by a friendly station employee who helped us carry the luggage!

Now when we got onto the train, we were desparate for a drink and a lady came with the drinks and food cart. I asked her for two green teas but she replied in a way that she didn't have any and went off.  We were surprised that she wouldn't have any drinks for us.... after a long while she came back from the other direction and we asked again, still she had sorry don't have any.  At this point we were thinking 'are we experiencing our first bout of racism?'

Then about 20 minutes after she came back with the two green teas we wanted :P

This is us after our 22 hour flight

At one point we had to shift our luggage to our seats and I didn't have space to sit next to Stacey so I sat next to this lady who was fluent in English and we ended up talking for the rest of the journey and volunteers at this Kanazawa Goodwill Guide Network.

We finally got to Kanazawa after about 3 hours on the train!  We didn't realise they was going to be someone to pick us up and poor Daiki waited at the station for 3 hours and we didn't see him! We ended up getting the taxi to the International House that we are staying at now.
Woo first entry, hope it is not too boring, the next one is probably going to be about my accomodation and University!

Bye for now!
